The Role & What You Will Be Doing
The PPM & Project Tools Functional Manager is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of our Project and Portfolio Management tools. The PPM tool supports the IT organization. This person will be the SME for our portfolio tool. The Functional Manager will work with Process Owners to understand processes, recommend how to use the tool to support the processes and drive the implementation of those requirements within the tool. This position will require solid project management knowledge, strong communication and change management skills and should have solid understanding of PMBOK principles. This position will be a member of the Office of the CIO.

- Becoming functional SME for all Project and Portfolio Management tools supported by the OCIO
- Recommending how Project & Portfolio Management tools can be used to automate IT processes
- Managing product releases (from requirements through testing)
- Partnering with Process Owners to communicate tool and process changes to the broader IT organization
- Managing list of potential tool enhancements, prioritizing based upon business need and driving implementation
- Training people on the use of Project & Portfolio Management tools
- Consistently maintaining tool documentation ensuring it always reflects current tool configurations
- Managing internal & external resources to develop the tool
- Driving tool upgrades to ensure Viatris stays current with vendor releases
- Administering the tool (user credentials, etc)
- Project managing implementation of any new tools or significant system releases
- Identifying opportunities to use new tool features and recommending them to the Process Owners
- Working with the Head of the IT PMO to prioritize functional releases
- Staying abreast of Project & Portfolio Management Industry trends
About Your Skills & Experience
For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration
- 7-10 years’ experience of project management required
- 5+ years’ experience working with Project & Portfolio Management software including Broadcom Clarity PPM, Microsoft Project and Jira required
- Demonstrated experience driving functional improvements within a software system
- Excellent communication skills required
- A strong customer centric approach to managing change is required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated experience negotiating priorities with multiple senior stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines
- Previous experience functionally owning a PPM solution preferred
- PMP and/or Agile certifications preferred
- Experience creating dashboards in Power BI preferred
- Knowledge of SAP is preferred
